Who We Are


Objectives

RLMI is primarily an association of officers and ex-officers of the Canadian Forces formed for the purpose of:

RLMI supports the military interest of Canadian youth through prizes to the many Cadet Corps located in the western Ontario region.

Membership

Membership consists of serving and retired officers from the Canadian and Commonwealth Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and retired or serving officers of Allied Forces. Associate membership is offered to interested and distinguished citizens who have not served in the Armed Forces or did not hold a commission.

Current membership is 267 of whom 38 are associate members.

Annual membership dues are $25.00

New members initial dues are $50.00 (includes RLMI tie, RLMI lapel pin, name tag and one year's dues).

Membership in RLMI confers access to other Institutes in Canada and the Commonwealth. Some Institutes operate their own club with dining and/or accommodation facilities. Enquiries about reciprocal privileges should be made to a member of the executive.

Members are encouraged to apply for associate membership in the Wolseley Barracks Officers' Mess.

Meetings

RLMI meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month except June, July, August, & December at 1930hrs at the Wolseley Barracks Officers' Mess. Distinguished speakers present topics ranging from current events, modern military practice, military or regional history to relevant economic and political trends.
Special luncheon meetings with a prominent speaker are held at noon on a Monday two or three times a year. The topics are of a more general nature suitable to a large attendance of guests.
The annual Mess Dinner is held in May. The annual garden party (sponsored by the Garrison Community Council and RLMI) takes place in June. The September meeting is a cocktail party and dinner for members and guests.
